Dental Implants
Dental implants are an excellent solution for replacing missing teeth and providing a fixed alternative to removable partial or complete dentures. The resulting teeth look natural and can significantly enhance a patient’s smile. Dental implants are known for their strength and durability, often lasting many years with occasional re-tightening or replacement due to normal wear.
There are several reasons why dental implants may be recommended. They can replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth, resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth spaces, restore a patient’s confident smile, improve chewing, speech, and digestion, enhance facial tissues, and provide support for bridges or dentures, making them more secure and comfortable.
Proper care instructions are provided upon completion of the treatment. Good oral hygiene, healthy eating habits, and regular dental visits are essential for maintaining the longevity of the new implant. The Process
The process of getting dental implants involves multiple visits over several months. Initially, X-rays and impressions are taken to assess the available bone, gum tissue, and spacing. The implant is then surgically placed into the bone while the area is numb and allowed to heal and integrate for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery may be required to place the post that will hold the artificial tooth. After several weeks of healing, artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post, which may take one to two months to complete. Once the healing period is over, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort.
